Celebrating Women’s Equality Day is not an annual event for us at Christian Women Connection, it is how we live. The significance of equality in the Church of God is one of the tenets of who we are and has been present since our beginning. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female, for we are all one in Christ Jesus.”
We join the nation as it observes Sunday, August 26 as Women’s Equality Day, commemorating women’s right to vote, equal opportunities for education and employment. We stand in solidarity acknowledging the great strides in our country. However, our celebration and commemoration is rooted in what occurred two thousand years ago and is not limited to the actions taken in 1894.
God is and has always been an equal rights champion, he is no respecter of persons!
"The significance of equality in the Church of God is one of the tenets of who we are and has been present since our beginning.
As daughters of this great movement, we must lead in upholding the worth of people. We stand strong as women who are not only equal but qualified to lead. From the beginning of time, from Genesis to Revelation, God has used Women in Leadership. Genesis 1: 26-28 reminds us that male and female are created in the image of God and in His likeness. Male and female are given leadership and dominion. God has and continues to use women powerfully and purposefully through the Church of God domestically and abroad. Christian Women Connection stands strong with women in equality, leadership and purpose!
"The Church of God was ordaining women to ministry before women were able to vote in the United States. When we follow the Spirit's lead and faithfully apply God's Word, we find ourselves leading the way in reformation. May the Church of God lean into her heritage of holiness, unity, and equality. Women and men together must heed the call to preach, to serve, and to love this world."
