Start a New Christian Women Connection Group

While a congregation may have several women's activities, there is something unique about Christian Women's Connection. Our ministries are distinguished by prioritizing three goals:
  • Spiritual Development
  • Relationships
  • Service

Here are a few ideas of how to get started with each of these goals:

Spiritual Development
  • Survey the women in your church  to discover their needs and plan your activities around those needs.
  • Order the Annual Planning Guide (APG), Sister to Sister, or Women of Purpose Studies. Plan a time for your group to gather and learn together.
  • Encourage your group to plan to attend a conference (the National Convention and/or regional or state gathering). These events are great ways to get to know other women and hear from inspired speakers. Take advantage of the opportunities for training, sharing, and spiritual growth.
  • Read a book together as a group. Be sure and choose one that will appeal to your group. For a Church of God perspective, A Thread of Hope is a great resource written by a number of women examining the role of women in Church of God Missions.

Relationships
  • Start meeting with your pastor. Offer to partner with and support your pastor in ministry and learn how to pray for him or her.
  • Develop mentoring relationships between older and younger woman.
  • Encourage women in the group to connect through partnerships with CWC ($10 – Basic, $20 – Challenge, and $100 – Lifetime). Encourage your group to provide for women who might not be able to give or who are new to the group.
  • Plan for fun time with your group. Take a shopping trip, go out for dinner, or host a casual pizza party in your home. Meet at the local cafe’, attend a farmers/flea market, or explore a local park or museum.
  • Be faithful and involved in other ministries in your church. Always support your local community/fellowship and its ongoing ministry. This will help women to become familiar with you and make it easier to begin building relationships.

Service
  • Choose a few CWC ministries to support. Create a goal and  challenge the women in your group to meet it.
  • Adopt a local ministry and encourage group members to volunteer.
  • Connect with younger women by encouraging your members to work with the youth at your church. Be a chaperone, offer to take pictures at an event, or offer to cook.
  • Collect items for Mission Kits. Use your group time to assemble the kits and pray over each one.

Take the Next Step
The biggest hurdle to beginning a ministry is inertia; just getting it started can be challenging. Remember that everything need not be perfect. Be prepared to make adjustments along the way. Some gatherings may be wildly successful while others will be considered "learning experiences."

Christian Women Connection is here to support, encourage, and resource CWC groups in any way we can.
With over 80 years of experience, there are plenty of successes —and learning experiences—to share. We pray daily for women just like you and we count it an honor.
