We mourn with Beatrice's husband Moses (National Leader of the Church of God in Uganda) and her friends and family. She has touched lives throughout the globe. We also celebrate her life because without Beatrice, our ministry would not be what it is today.
In 2014, Beatrice wrote the following words about her ministry in Uganda. Please continue to pray for her family, friends, and that her work of "spreading the gospel" would continue.
I thank God for allowing and giving me the grace to come and be a part of this great gathering of women. I also thank the organizers, especially the leader of the women in the USA for inviting us, the ladies of Uganda. Five of us were invited, but unfortunately, my friends were denied visas. I want to also thank our beloved missionary, Rev. Colleen Stevenson, for her effort to see that I am here with all of you. I therefore bring warm greetings from the women and the entire Church of God in Uganda. In Uganda we say “Abaakyala Juu” or “Women Up.” I am very grateful for the women’s ministry in Uganda and throughout East and Central Africa.
As a church, we are thirty years old, but in these years, I have seen the women’s ministry grow. We have women who are ordained ministers and pastors. We have women leaders in other fields. We organize and hold the National Women’s retreats every year. At the retreats we discuss key issues affecting women in Uganda and other countries like Rwanda, Congo, and Southern Sudan. We invite women from these countries to participate too. Through the retreats women are taught different topics like how to raise our children in a godly way. We believe that when we raise our children the way God instructs us then we shall be preparing a church for tomorrow.
We empower women leaders with leadership skills to help them in their respective areas of work. Women are taught skills about how to develop themselves through small businesses. We also teach our ladies about the killer of disease of HIV/AIDS and many other topics.
Apart from the National Retreat, we have regional women leaders. These leaders arrange seminars where all the women come and share the love of God. This has really helped the women in the church and we have seen women come to Christ. Today the biggest number in the church in Uganda is the women.
The national and regional seminars have helped women have more confidence in their ministry. The men have learned that women are part of the Great Commission. Today I want to thank you and your churches for the great support that you have given to the women in Uganda.
Because of the support, we have many different projects for women. We have cow projects, goat projects, bird projects, and tailoring projects. Some women have gone to Bible College. I am one of them. Widows have been built homes in which to live. Rev. Colleen has helped with bicycles to help us reach some places for evangelism. We have been sent to other countries like Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Southern Sudan to take the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today I thank God that the women in East and Central Africa have come together through the coordination of our beloved sister Colleen. I believe that we are becoming an army to go across Africa. As I finish, I request that you continue to pray for us. We have many challenges back home.
There are many orphans who need to go to school. There are many widows who need support. A lot of women need small projects to help improve the income of their families. Many of our women pastors and younger girls need to go to Bible Schools. Transport for ministry is still a challenge and we need prayer for peace in our countries. Pray for our cooperation and unity in East and Central Africa.
I invite all of you to come to Uganda and East and Central Africa. Come and see, touch and feel, and you will know better how to pray for us. My God bless you and may God continue to bind us together. Thank you for welcoming us here. Hope to see you in East and Central Africa.
