All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
The Holy Word of Scriptures has been my foundation ever since I remember sitting in church as my father preached faithfully every Sunday. I heard the scriptures at an early age and had no idea that very Word was rooting itself deep within the recesses of my heart. Bible memorization was something I truly enjoyed. Hebrews 4:12 was the first verse I learned beyond children’s vacation Bible school. At that time, my understanding was limited to its meaning, but I retained this scripture in my heart. Today, I use this scripture as a spiritual weapon or entryway when I need encouragement, clarity or guidance, “For the word of God IS quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword." This scripture, learned as a child, is still equipping my life.
We strive to partner with the church in women’s ministry and provide ways for their group to grow spiritually and lead a new generation within their local church. All that we are today has been bathed in the Word of God through prayer, teaching, renewal, and study. This will not change as Christian Women Connection moves forward in ministry and mission. The focus for every mission and vision within the Church of God should mirror the passages of our one and only King of Kings. The Word is alive and well. It not only teaches, but it rebukes and corrects.
I am a doer; I make things happen. Details that may cause others to retreat, invigorate me. However, sometimes I am so focused on getting it done, I miss the journey. I miss the God moments! Psalms 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God!” Often God has spoken clearly to me, “Arnetta, be still, let Me be God! Stop doing and just be.”
God truly cares about His children. The writer in Hebrews 12 reminds us, “for the Lord disciplines those whom He loves, and chastises every child whom He accepts.” As daughters of God, we can be assured that a loving God teaches and corrects us as well as trains us. He prepares and trains us to help the next woman along her journey. If we live life long enough, experience sometimes can be the best lesson and training in righteousness. God will allow us to grow in those lessons to be able to acknowledge that our faith has grown tremendously.
Whatever we put our hands to do in women’s ministry, whether we serve in a local church, community, on our job, or in our home, the scriptures have all we need to be equipped for every good work. Every servant of God will be equipped thoroughly. That is good news! Continue to be encouraged as we seek to be as creative and culturally aware of our surroundings as possible. The scriptures can creatively reach every heart, soul, and mind within our reach. Just think of the reach of the Holy Spirit!
Let us allow the scriptures that teach, rebuke, correct, and train us, as well as our women in righteousness, so that we may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
We in the national office have provided tools to assist in this endeavor. Please feel free to use the resources available: Connector Ministries (web-based ministry guides), reConnect, CBO materials, Friday Connection, and this guide, to name a few.
Sisters, may our lives be equipped through the living Word of God!
