Lovington Widow Ministry
Jeanene states, "Now we all know – or at least it has been proven – that women live longer than men as a rule. There are nearly 700,000 women who lose their husbands each year and as the ‘baby boom’ generation moves into old age these numbers are expected to rise. Approximately 82 percent of all married women will be widowed at least once in their lifetime. These numbers are staggering. What an opportunity for the church to develop this ministry – plus it is scriptural for the church to care for the widows and orphans. There are 200+ scriptures relating to widows and/or orphans. It is a mandate to the Church and an obligation of leadership to provide support for the widow."
Is your church considering starting a widow ministry? Check out the Manual of Examples. The manual provides examples of invitations, postcards, events, and so much more to assist you in organizing and planning a widow's ministry.
