Community Connection
When reflecting on “Good News! God is with us!” it is easy to see the implementations of that in our church community. How do we see this statement in the community outside our church doors? How are we showcasing God’s good news to the community around us? This month take some time to engage in sharing the good news to the community around your church. Begin to understand the needs around the area. After you have spent time engaging in the community, reflect on how you can be sharing the good news.
Community Dinner
Host a community dinner: canvas the neighborhood knocking on doors and handing out flyers to invite people to dinner. Engage in conversation over the meal with your neighbors about the community’s needs and how the church can be helping to meet those needs. Some dinner ideas could be a baked potato bar, a chili cook off, or skip the cooking and order pizzas! If your meeting place cannot facilitate a community dinner, sign up to cook the meal at the local soup kitchen or Ronald McDonald house.
Volunteer at a Local Nonprofit
Spend a night as a group volunteering at a local nonprofit. Use this opportunity to take time to serve as well as glean knowledge about the needs of the community.
Discuss trying to volunteer as a group once a month.
