As spring approaches we tend to become more aware of our messes. The lighter days seem to lift away apathy and point out all the dust that has gathered in. For some, you realize it is time to wash your car of the build up of salt from driving on wintery roads. In this season of lent we can also attempt to spring clean ourselves, by giving up sugar or coffee.
How do we spring clean emotionally and spirituality? Jesus cleanses us in his blood and righteousness which is a permeant action. Although as Christians we are cleansed, we are still plagued by temptation and life patterns. Living clean is living intentionally. John 15:3-5 states “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Good News! We have been cleansed by the Father and remain clean as we choose to remain with Him, even in the times of trial.
